ENVIRONMENT

KANAMEL Group's philosophy

The KANAMEL Group complies with environmental laws, regulations and industry standards, and proactively works to reduce its environmental impact by recycling waste and reusing unused items on filming locations, going paperless in offices and switching to LED lighting. We also contribute to the creation of a sustainable society by leveraging the KANAMEL Group's creative capabilities to support our clients' sustainability-related communication initiatives.

Sustainability-related communication

Example 1: Marketing communication support for a client operating a reuse & recycle business
Example 2: Assisting the client with internal communication regarding their own sustainability initiatives

Sorting waste and recycling resources

We separate food waste from film shoots and entrust Yokohama Environmental Conservation Co., Ltd. with recycling it to produce compost. The resulting organic fertilizer, "Hama no Ariga Compost," is used in farms, home gardens, and schools' flower beds. We also recycle plastic bottles and cans.

Promoting the reuse of unnecessary items during filming

AOI Pro. donates magazines and books used on set and in waiting rooms to used-books charities, and also donates unnecessary items to support organizations. TREE Digital Studio also reuses items. By constantly reusing, we reduce waste and deliver items to those who need them.

Living in Harmony with Nature at TENNEI, an experimental site on Hachijojima Island in the Izu Islands

FIELD MANAGEMENT EXPAND opened TENNEI, an experimental center for SDG-related projects on Hachijojima, Izu Islands, in July 2021.
On a vast, 9,200-m² site in Hachijojima, surrounded by majestic nature, the site was built by renovating housing and office buildings. The project aims to improve quality of life (QOL) when working in remote islands, verify progress of digital transformation (DX), and conduct circular economy-related experiments.
We are also working on the "8jo Zero Emission Factory Concept," which aims to contribute to a zero-emission society by conducting video editing and XR development using 100% renewable energy from wind power.
In the future, we aim to provide videos utilizing renewable energy when requested to do so by government and corporate organizations to promote sustainability. We also plan to develop XR content centered on 3D spaces.

Paperless initiatives

KANAMEL Group companies have implemented electronic approval systems for internal applications and are promoting paperless practices in internal meetings and other activities to reduce paper usage and protect the environment.
Also, PEFC-certified paper is used for all copy machines and the KANAMEL Group supports ASKUL Corporation's "1 box for 2 trees project," which contributes to the protection of local natural forests and the resolution of problems in local communities.

For every box of ASKUL's PEFC-certified copy paper purchased (raw material: one acacia or eucalyptus tree), two eucalyptus trees are planted, thus contributing to the sustainability of raw materials.
